Rolex chronographs possess certain distinctive qualities that make them legends in the industry. Of course, this status was further cemented with the advent of the Daytona, which became a favorite of many racing drivers, from Paul Newman to Tom Christensen. However, before that, other chronographs had laid a solid foundation for reputation, such as Ref. 3668.
The Ref. 3668 is one of the first Rolex chronographs with an Oyster case and screw-down crown, which makes it so desirable. In 1939, Rolex launched the Ref.3481 chronograph, followed immediately by the Ref.3668. The Ref.3668 is slightly larger than the Ref.3481, but at 35mm in diameter, it is still modest, even petite, by modern standards. Swiss replica watches.
The Valjoux Cal powers this watch. 13″‘ 23 VZ nickel-plated movement with column wheel, central hours and minutes, small seconds (9 o’clock), central chronograph seconds, and 30-minute cumulative chronograph ( 3 o’clock position) display function. After the baptism of time, the rose/salmon dial has acquired a charming luster, against which the blue steel hands are particularly conspicuous. Combined with the gold crown and bezel, the overall appearance is stunning.
The watch’s dial provides a wealth of information, and although it is decorated with a tachymeter and distance measuring scales, it is still straightforward to read. The integrated layout is very successful, considering the relatively small diameter of the watch. Also helpful in this regard is a bezel with clearly marked hour markers. This is very different from the imitation rolex bezel we know today, but it undoubtedly adds to the charm of Ref. 3668 and makes this timepiece even more popular among collectors. Favor welcome.
